Plan for 10th Grade

My Plan for 10th Grade Writing:

Next year in 10th grade, I will use many aspects of writing workshop in order to maintain continuous success in my writing.

In 10th grade, I will incorporate my writing workshop skills by:

-Always checking to make sure the basic concepts of my 9th grade mini-lessons are present. Such as complete sentences, correct punctuation, correct grammar, and good word choice.
-Always brainstorm for different ideas.
-Always draft.
-Always edit and make final revisions.

In order to maintain the organized and efficient manner of writing workshop in 10th grade I will:
-Never procrastinate on my writing assignments.
-Never turn in unedited or incomplete assignments.
-Never use my initial writing ideas without exploring other possibilities by brainstorming.

This year in writing workshop mini-lessons helped guide me through different writing techniques, skills, and concepts that were necessary for me to produce the best work possible. Next year, I will surely continue to use what I have leaned from various writing workshops to help me with my writing assignments.

The mini lessons I will refer to and use the most next year are:

-Comma after a compound sentence.
-Introductions and conclusions for analysis based papers.
-Categorizing by lens and word choice.
-Using appositives.

Next year, I will most likely keep my writers notebook at home. With my notebook at home I will be able to refer to it when necessary, but will not risk the possibility of misplacing it by keeping it at school.

I will refer to my notebook when:

-When I am unsure of how to write in a certain genre.
-When I am unsure if I have mastered a specific skill and or concept.
-When I need to get ideas about what to write.

This year mentor texts helped guide me through different genres of writing, by showing me an optimal example of what writing in that genre looks like.

Next year I will refer to mentor texts such as:

-The Jacket (narrative) by Gary Soto
-A Scary New World (critical review) by John Green
-The Beatles Live On (this I believe) by Macklin Levine

Next year, in a more compressed amount of time I will have to adjust my current writing workshop schedule to meet the deadlines for assignments.

I will follow my process even when I have less time by:

-Spending any class time (if given) working efficiently.
-Brainstorming, drafting, and revising as much as necessary consecutively each night.
-Going to tutorial/ meeting separately with my teacher as necessary.
